Long Lasting Yellow Cedar

Every ChidLife unit is constructed of the finest Yellow Cedar--just like the decks, hulls and other exposed surfaces of those great ocean-going crafts. Stronger, more solid, more durable than redwood and all other cedars! ChildLife is the only play system made of 100% natural yellow cedar. So pure and naturally rot resistant (without pressure treatment), it lines portions of major metropolitan water supplies. So strong and long-lasting, it forms the ribs of hand-crafted wooden sailboats and even musical instruments. Other play equipment companies use redwood, red cedar, and white cedar which are great for shingles, fences, and other non-structural uses. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says our yellow cedar vastly outperforms them ALL in terms of strength, density, hardness, and rot resistance. The other woods grow quickly, have wide growth rings, and large knots, and you need larger dimensions to match our structural strength. Our yellow cedar's tight growth rings equal a dense, stronger wood! Our finest yellow cedar which comes from slow growth forests in British Columbia is the structurally superior choice for backyard play equipment. It's the hardest, strongest cedar in the world. Most frame components are encased in multiple layers of our durable, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly enamel. The result? The only truly smooth, splinter-free play system you can buy! The enamel coating protects your investment from the elements so it will look great far longer than products made of redwood, red cedar, and white cedar, all of which bleach and blacken quickly when exposed to the weather -- just look at any raw wood decking! To address the splintering and aging of such products, you need to re-apply messy stains and sealers when thin factory-applied stains (if any) leach away. With a beautiful ChildLife painted play system, you won't spend precious family time on costly annual sanding, power-washing, and resealing. Our products are distinctive and unique. 6 Step Finishing Process

Step 1 - Our mill partner carefully selects, mills, and dries ChildLife grade yellow cedar. Each piece is consistent quality -- the strongest and most durable you can buy!

Step 2 - Each beam is cut and shaped to exact dimensions. Holes are precision-drilled.

Step 3 - Then we ultra-sand for an incomparably smooth surface before painting!

Step 4 - Special primer is applied. Because the wood has been carefully kiln-dried, the primer soaks into the wood, and begins the "encasing" process.

Step 5 - Ultra-sanding -- again! The primer coat is thoroughly re-sanded and brushed.

Step 6 - The final enamel finish coat is attractive, splinter-free, and the lowest maintenance in the industry.

These mass-produced alternatives are much too slippery for small hands and feet. A natural hardwood rung is always a better choice, for your kids and for the environment too!

Yacht Quality Swing Ropes

ChildLife's SWING ROPES are marine-grade yachting rope
Your child will be holding the same yacht-grade rope used by America's Cup champions! Our swing ropes of silky, double-braided polyester are much stronger than required. They are far friendlier to the touch than vinyl-dipped chain, which discolors, peels, and rusts. Chain is far too "industrial," and it creates finger and hair entrapments. Our rope is so thick and comfortable, it's easy for little hands to hold tightly without getting tired or sore.
